Our Levels

Introductory/Kinder Irish
Specifically for our youngest dancers (starting at age 4½), concentrating on basic movements. Dancers should be attending kindergarten — or, if registering for a Summer class, attending kindergarten in the coming Fall.
Beginner
Introduction to Irish dance steps for dancers in first grade and above.
Continuing
Dancers who have developed a basic understanding of Irish dance, and are ready to learn more complicated skills and rhythms.
Intermediate
Dancers who have developed a solid understanding of Irish dance, and are ready for hardshoe. At this level, dancers are encouraged to begin choreographing their own steps, with and without the instructors’ help. Traditional sets taught at this level are St. Patrick’s Day and The Blackbird.
Preliminary
Dancers who have passed the Intermediate grade exam and are ready for more difficult material, including slow-speed treble jigs and hornpipes, and more difficult traditional sets.
Advanced
Dancers who have passed the Preliminary grade exam, and are ready to further explore dance in company- and self-motivated study. May include study towards teachers’ certifications and/or experience planning and running performances.
